Duties Explained ...
Search and Rescue: dogs are trained to locate people by scent.Scent Detection: narcotics and cadavers are within the most common scents dogs are trained on for police/military and search and rescue units. Dogs can be trained to find almost anything including bed bugs and various types of mushrooms.
Tracking: dogs are trained to follow human scent to locate them. This is commonly used for locating perpetrators by the police/military.
Engaging in Conflict: dogs are trained with high level control to be able to bark aggressively, strike someone while muzzled, and bite if needed.
Dogs, especially the German Shepherd Dog, are incredible working animals. Their skills are relied on for assistance by many professions and for enjoyment in dog sport.
